REVISED STORYBOARD

I have taken some stills and made them into a movie with captions, to illustrate the key plot points in my animatic. Following is the video:

The storyline is very simple with the key plot points being:

1. Cat chases the ball
2. Cat catches the ball
3. Cat lets the ball slip from its grasp
4. In a return to the original plot point, the cat again chases the ball

The storyline is very neat as the ending is the same as the beginning

DISTORTIONS DURING ANIMATION

Here are some distortions in the mesh I have encountered after my rigging my model. I believe this was caused by my workflow, namely the fact that I didn't hit the FREEZE TRANSFORMATIONS button at the appropriate interval, and also the fact that while modelling the cat, some pieces (especially the head and tongue feature) were not created at the point of origin.

CHARACTER MODEL

Here is my character... he is very cute, and was inspired by the anime cartoon "Azumanga Daioh", which has a very simple plot with very simple characters.

I was inspired by two cat characters that appear throughout the show:

The simple shapes were inspired by the character (co-incidentally called) "Maya"

While the expressions and colours were mainly inspired by "this yellow cat" (he chose to remain anonymous)

CREATING A JUMP CYCLE

Here is a video of a simple jump cycle I have created. I think in reality the bone structure is too complex for my cat-character, as the cat will be extremely cartoon like.

Here is the video:'

The song is "4ever" by "The Veronicas"... The copywrite of this song belongs to someone other than myself

PROPOSAL PLAN C

Once again I will be limiting the scope as to increase the quality of the work itself. The story will go as such:

- Cat plays with ball, but can't get a handle on it
- Cat continues to play and struggles, gets frustrated and nearly gives up
- Cat decides to continue with its endeavour to get a handle on the ball
- Cat finally succeeds, then celebrates

BIODIVERSITY:

As people (especially in cities like my hometown Brisbane) are increasingly detatched from nature, they begin to objectify it and care less about it. The aim of this project is to show the similarities in nature between animals and humans and to convince the viewer to care more about nature. The positive ending of the animatic is important, as without positive thinking environmental problems cannot be overcome.

Plan B

due to my over estimation of this project's scope, i have, as always, a plan b (and c, d, e, f, g through to z, and then after that i start using the greek alpha-beta). due to my love of the C64 demo scene, glitch artists, MIA jimi hendrix and any inovator etc etc i'm just going to try and break the software and see how cool it can look. i can learn MEL scripting and other such things at a later date. i used to look at c64 vids ages ago but this is the most recent and coolest one i've seen:

it is political, and links in with bio diversity....
